More About Our Remote CCTV Monitoring Service for Businesses

Remote CCTV monitoring for businesses is getting very popular in the UK with the advances of human detection technology. Commercial properties are using it to deter crime. It’s main purpose is detection people and vehicles in places they shouldn’t be and warning them its a restricted area before any crime has taken place. It’s the best security tool to prevent crime, which is why more and more insurance companies are now making in mandatory for businesses to have CCTV monitoring around a commercial property.

Outdated technology (which is still used on many sites) are PIR – passive inferred sensors. Although they were very good in their time, they have many limitations and potential problems that can effect the performance and reliability of monitoring.

PIR detectors can be triggered by factors other than human beings, such as changes in temperature, insects, bushes in the wind and trees etc. This can cause too many false notifications going back to the monitoring station.

They also have a limited detection range, typically up to 10 to 15 meters, so criminal activity isn’t detected until really close to the property.

PIR detectors are normally really low down and can be prone to vandalism.

With the new technology, the cameras advanced inbuilt video analytics software is able to detect people and vehicles if they enter pre-defined areas. This technology has may advantages over the PIR detectors.

The software can accurately detect a person or vehicle and therefore significantly reducing false alarms to both the customer and the monitoring station.

The cameras detection range can be much wider and further than a PIR detector, but also the camera is able to show a short clip of what has caused the detection.

Human behaviour analysis can be used, so it only sends an alert if a person is stood in a select area for longer than a preset time limit. This will let the monitoring station know about people loitering.

Tripwire line crossings and intrusion zones can be set up via each individual camera.

A tripwire line, can be drawn across the screen highlighted in blue. If a person walks over the line it will trigger the camera and send an alert to the 24/7 remote monitoring centre. The human detection algorithm helps reduce the number of false notifications.

An intrusion zone, can be a preset area drawn onto the camera. If a person of vehicle enters the zone, again the alert will be send to the monitoring station. To get the best out of the analytics, Zone CCTV will set up all the detection areas, but continue to monitor and adjust the parameters and sensitivity.

Once the monitoring station receives the alert, they will look live at the CCTV cameras in real time and see what has set off the alert.

If there is someone on site, they will make a live announcement using the tannoy speaker system. If the intruder is up to no good, this normally puts them off and makes them leave the site. This is because it’s the human element rather than an automated message. They can so, you in the Red jacket, if you do not leave the site will call the police.

The operatives can also call the key holders in priority order, or even call the police if the threat is imminent and they haven’t left the site after the tannoy speaker announcement.

Most commercial premises have the monitoring at set times, for example, monitor the site between 6pm until 7am Monday to Friday and all weekend.

The arming and disarming of the monitoring can also be done via a mobile app. Multiple users can be set up to use this service. There can be a master admin and then users, so if a member of staff ever left the comapny, they can be removed from the app.

In some cases now, insurances companies are making it mandatory for businesses to have remote CCTV monitoring. This is because it is such an effective tool for crime prevention. We think this is much better than alarm monitoring, if the alarm goes off, then the damage is done, the intruder has access to the building. We want to stop this before it is too late and any damage is caused.

Zone CCTV also provide remote monitoring CCTV towers, mainly used for construction sites and derelict buildings. The advantages of the CCTV towers, is that they don’t need a constant power supply as they have solar panels and a 4G router fitted.

More information on the solar CCTV towers can be found here.

Setting up a high quality remote monitoring system to your business is simple. Zone CCTV has already done all the hard work.

Upon enquiry and installation of one of our business CCTV packages, one of our engineers will connect your CCTV systems DVR to your internet connection via an Ethernet cable. Your internet connection will then securely transmit your CCTV images to the Zone CCTV remote monitoring offices.

You can also choose whether you want 24/7 monitoring, or a simpler package whereby your system is only remotely monitored where the premises are closed.

Despite being a sizeable distance from your property, our remote response CCTV engineers have a variety of capabilities to assist in keeping you and your business safe.

As soon as an intruder activates an alarm on your site; be it heat or motion sensors as part of your CCTV system or through more traditional door and window alarms. Our complex technology automatically re-routes the image onto one of our engineer’s screens.

From there, we are able to continually monitor activity through switching cameras, rerunning recent footage ,or even moving cameras independently if your premises utilises pan-tilt and zoom technology. We can also communicate with intruders via installed loudspeakers.

If our initial assessments deem the incident to be more serious and in need of police assistance. We then call the police for you. We ensure that we use local police numbers so you can be sure the police will always be on hand as quick as possible.

Zone CCTV also finds that as we are catching events in real time the police become naturally more responsive.
