Children’s Corner Childcare recently acquired a large new property in Holt Park, Leeds, LS16. Having installed security systems across many of their sites in Leeds and Harrogate over the years, they invited our CCTV engineers to review this latest facility. The existing security setup was outdated and needed to be modernised to future proof safeguarding standards. After a thorough assessment of the building layout, we decided the best approach was to strip out the old equipment and design a brand-new commercial CCTV installation from scratch.

Operating a busy nursery means that keeping children safe and maintaining daily routines is the top priority for the business owners. To avoid getting in the way of staff or causing any operational downtime, our team carried out the entire installation over a bank holiday weekend. Working while the building was completely empty allowed us to run new cabling efficiently through a challenging layout filled with numerous internal walls. Our engineers successfully hid all the wiring to ensure a neat, tidy finish that keeps cables completely out of sight and away from inquisitive children.

For the core business security system, we fitted a modern Hikvision IP CCTV setup featuring wide-angle turret cameras. Each camera uses a 2.8mm lens to deliver a broad 90-degree view, providing complete visual coverage across every single room. Alongside the cameras, we replaced a very dated door entry setup with a brand-new network intercom system. We installed compact 7-inch monitor screens in all the main rooms so staff can instantly see exactly who is at the front door before opening it. This feature provides a vital layer of protection for nursery safeguarding issues and allows team members to manage visitors safely without leaving their rooms.

The property had exceptionally thick internal walls which heavily blocked wireless signals and made communication difficult between different areas. We resolved this by installing dedicated wireless access points in each room to create a strong, reliable internal network. This network upgrade allowed us to set up a comprehensive VoIP telephone system so individual rooms can easily contact one another. Finally, we set up a centralised viewing monitor in the main manager’s office for easy oversight of daily operations. All footage records securely to an internal hard drive, ensuring robust asset protection and making it simple for management to replay, review and export video if an incident ever occurs.
