After experiencing an attempted burglary at their premises in Leeds (LS9), a catering company contacted Zone CCTV for help in improving their security. When we reviewed the old footage from the incident, it became clear that the existing system was no longer fit for purpose. The cameras were around eight years old, and at night they only produced poor-quality black-and-white infrared images. The suspect could barely be identified, which highlighted just how vulnerable the business was.

Following a detailed site survey, we recommended replacing the outdated equipment with a brand-new Hikvision IP CCTV system. This would not only give the customer peace of mind but also future proof their security for years to come.

The system chosen included the latest 3rd generation 4-megapixel Hikvision cameras, which are equipped with Live Guard technology. These advanced cameras don’t just record incidents, they actively help to deter crime through flashing strobe lights, automated warning messages, and powerful human detection features.

One of the biggest improvements for the customer has been the night-time performance. Even in very low light, the new cameras deliver crisp, full colour footage that makes it far easier to identify individuals. The cameras also include built-in microphones, which record audio alongside the video. This can be incredibly useful if conversations, names, or other sounds need to be picked up as part of an investigation.

Our engineers carried out a complete re-cabling of the property to ensure the system operated at its best. We installed a mixture of internal and external cameras, carefully positioned to cover vulnerable areas. In fact, one unit was even placed inside the company’s freezer, where it can withstand temperatures as low as -40°C. This has given the customer not only enhanced security but also the ability to monitor staff activity, stock control, and overall efficiency within the business.
